B12 Injection Side Effects and Dangers

Today I want to share a few vitamin B12 injection side effects, plus what this vitamin really does for someone.

A gentleman named Casimir Funk took the discovery that oranges stopping scurvy and another discovery about the husk in rice preventing rickets. He realized there were things in food that were vital for life and created the term vitamin.

So what the heck does B12 do? It basically benefits the entire body and its largest benefit is maintaining the health of nerve cells. Let me ask you do you like your senses?

Maybe hearing music, looking at landscapes, smelling incense, tasting things like ice cream and who can forget about touching a loved one? You need nerves to enjoy them.

If that wasn’t enough it plays a role with digestion. Digestion is really big, did you know that 90% of the feel good chemical serotonin is produced in the gut? 80% of the immune system is in the gut. Plus you need it for your heart.

Basically if you don’t get enough it’s going to mess up your senses, digestion, heart, brain and a lot more.

So why would you want to inject vitamin B12? Well, if someone is deficient maybe they have a disorder it can be a quick way to get the vitamin.

There are side effects and 1 potential danger is there is insufficient knowledge about the safety of larger amounts of this vitamin during pregnancy. According to ConsumerLabs (they test a bunch of supplements) overdosing on this vitamin with pregnant women has been associated with increased risk of autism of babies.

It’s probably not a good idea to take if you are pregnant. In fact any supplement shouldn’t be taken if you’re pregnant, unless it’s omega 3.

Also if you consume too much of the vitamin you could experience diarrhea, wanting to vomit and stomach pains. The good news is that since it’s water-soluble it’s not easy to overdose.

Like most things in life your body could just rebel and this means an allergic reaction. This includes soreness/itching at the injection site. Muscle cramping, irregular heart beats and even problems with your senses such as slurred speech, vision changes or chest pains. If you do experience nasty side effects then you should stop taking the vitamin and consult your doctor about your options.

The last danger I’m going to mention is that it could interact negatively with a drug. If you are taking any drugs you really should consult your doctor before giving this injection a try.
